The Journey of life’s challenges

Since opening my eyes in this world, I have always been surrounded by music. Along the journey of life’s challenges, music has always provided grounding, relaxation, and most importantly, reflection together with the sheer enjoyment that comes with music.
The power of music can lift the soul and create happiness through our happy chemicals that the brainstem releases, particularly serotonin, which helps regulate mood, feelings of wellbeing and happiness and potentially reducing worry and improving mood.
Within creative art therapy, music is one of its branches that provides for non-verbal emotional expression, reducing stress and anxiety, improving mood, enhancing physical and cognitive functions, playing an important role in our cognitive development processes, and helping us to express and respond to negative emotions.
Think only of the human spirit reflected in Beethoven’s 9th symphony or the addictive fun from ABBA, as both inspire and create happiness or the engagement we experience in singing or playing music to express our feelings. Music allows us to reflect on how we continue life’s journey, sharing the history and power that music brings in shaping our humanity. Let’s share our stories about what music means to us all.
